Blond Squirrel

After eagle watching, we drove past Hamm's Marina looking for waterfowl. In the neighborhood just south of the marina I spotted this unusually colored squirrel. I've never seen a blond squirrel before.

Prolly used that same crummy haircolor kit I bought - 'sposed to be caramelly golden highlight but turned out that reddish color of the squirrel's tail. I know your photography is more serious that my home hair color crises - but I knew you'd get a chuckle. No I've never seen a badly bleached squirrel either.

This looks like the white squirrel. They are plentiful in Olney, IL and are actually protected there including a fine if you run over one with your car. Olney is west of Flora or southwest of Effingham on Route 50.
Here is a link about the history of white squirrels.
